IT Schools Africa (ITSA) is a UK-registered charity founded in 2004. Our mission is to create positive lives through education, by providing access to e-Learning to schools throughout Africa.

This facilitates children's education, enhances their job prospects and helps transform the wider African economy.

We work with schools and other educational institutions to develop initiatives to support wider communities and provide better access to ICT in Africa. Our computers have educational software pre-installed, ready for the teachers to use to make their lessons not only informative but also interesting and interactive for the students.

Our programme in Africa delivers IT teaching training and technical support to all recipient schools and deals with the final disposal of computers in an environmentally friendly way.

Whilst in the UK our programme supports the local community – as we work with prisons, the unemployed and schools – we help to train and give valuable practical skills and work experience to volunteers.

Please help us to extend our mission of creating positive lives in Africa; it costs £100 to get a computer on to a desk in a school in Africa. Just £10 will pay for a new hard drive, enabling educational software to be installed.

Thank you, from the ITSA Team

We donated laptops to a school in the Western Equatoria State, South Sudan - the world's newest nation, to help provide IT Education to an all girls school. The country is one of the worlds' poorest after being ravaged by decades of war; it's thought that at least 1.5 million people died because of the fighting. It lacks even basic infrastructure and has a literacy rate of just 27% (UNICEF 2015). Ibba Girls School was established in 2014 and is gradually increasing its numbers; currently it has 120 students, but over time more students will be enrolled each year, to reach its target of 360. The school focuses on girls only, because few girls get the chance of education - the majority currently drop out around the age of 10. We hope that with the added benefit of learning IT the girls will be better equipped and qualified to apply to go on to higher education at university or college – or to further professional or vocational training.
